Internet is Free but the Cost of Doing Business Continues to Rise
The days of setting up a free website to build your business online is over. Successful sites today require complex markup code, mobile website optimization and even encryption and more to perform well in the search engine results pages or SERPS. Not to mention a system or procedures to maintain and keep websites up to date.
Page Load Speed
If you want to be found online one critical component you must manage today is page load speed. The search engines know if a page takes too long to load your Next New Customers will refuse to wait, and they will simply give up and try another site. Google has indicated that page load times are a signal they use in their algorithm to rank which pages show first and which pages don’t. Therefore, if everything else is equal the sites with the fastest load times will display and be found first before slower sites.
There are many aspects to consider when optimizing page load speeds. We are going to cover several here including properly sized images, AMP and even CDN’s which we will explain next.
Properly Sized Images
Use a photo editing program to make sure your images are a maximum of 72 dots per inch (DPI) for the web (vs 300 DPI for print that would bring your Next New Customers web browser to a crawl). Ensure your image dimensions are no larger than they need to be. It doesn’t make any sense to upload an image 3,000 pixels wide that will is going to only be displayed at a width of 300 pixels. Reduce the dimensions and optimize your image before you include it on your blog site. For photographs, we suggest saving as a .jpg and for graphics consider the .png format.
Are Content Delivery Networks or Content Distribution Networks. CDN’s are a network of servers around the globe that all keep a copy of your web pages. When your Next New Customer requests a web page the closest server in the CDN delivers the webpage to ensure the fastest experience.
